Zambia Validation Workshop November 2023

Over the first half of 2023 SFSI implemented a research-based approach to develop entry points for the Irish Embassy in Zambia to focus on in their upcoming “Zambia Ireland Sustainable Food Systems Strengthening Programme (ZISSP)”. In November 2023 the Embassy and SFSI hold a workshop to validate the developed key components and approach of the proposed 4-year programme. The programme seeks to support a just transition towards a sustainable food system through interventions in Climate Action, One Health and Policy Coherence, leading to increased resilience to climate, environmental, production and consumption shocks and crisis risk reduction. Zambian stakeholder from the following organizations attend the two 2-hour workshops –Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, National Food and Nutrition Commission, World Food Programme (WFP), World Health Organization (WHO), the European Commission, Self Help Africa, Save the Children, Harvest Fund and Zayohub. Validation of the proposed entry points allowed the programme to successfully start in December 2023.
